Prior to renovation, situated in the center of a mid-century modern home, was a dark narrow kitchen with bright orange bench tops and dark brown cabinetry.
The removal of a wall, allowed the space to accommodate a multifunctional island bench, which was the first consideration. This also brought in much needed light from the court yard. Stylistically, finishes are pared back with muted tones and textures. Clean lines are created with the use of shadow line handles and what seems to be floating bench tops. Engineered stone bench tops are 20mm thick, with reverse shark nose edge by Stone Italiana. Joinery Polytec melamine Marni Lini and Laminex Silver brushed metallic for island side panels and kick plates.
Twin tub dishwasher, microwave with stainless steel trim, 900mm wide induction cooktop, wall oven tower with steam oven completes an up-to-date appliance selection.
This kitchen refurbishment demonstrates the fact that design doesn’t need to be enslaved
